About 70 million years ago, in what is now Madagascar, Masiakasaurus knopfleri prowled the Cretaceous landscape with a grin unlike any other dinosaur. This small predator—only about 6 feet long—had forward-pointing teeth at the front of its jaws, perfect for snagging slippery prey like fish and small reptiles. Its skull was lightweight but built for speed, making it a quick and quirky hunter.
