Roughly 120 million years ago, during the Early Cretaceous, Sinopterus dongi soared above the lush forests of what is now Liaoning, China. Part of the tapejarid family, this small pterosaur had long, delicate wings and a lightweight body built for agile gliding. Unlike the fearsome predators of its time, Sinopterus was likely a fruit-eater, using its toothless beak to pluck food as it swooped between trees.

Our Sinopterus skeleton kit captures the grace and fragility of this aerial reptile, from its elongated wing bones to its slender frame. It’s a chance to study how pterosaurs mastered flight millions of years before birds, and to appreciate the incredible diversity of life in the Jehol Biota fossil beds.
