Thescelosaurus neglectus

Thescelosaurus Skull: The Sturdy Snout of a Survivor

About 68 to 66 million years ago, in the final days of the Late Cretaceous, Thescelosaurus neglectus roamed the river valleys and floodplains of North America. This small, sturdy herbivore was built low to the ground, using its beak-like snout to clip vegetation and its strong jaw muscles to grind tough plants. Its name means “wonderful lizard,” a nod to how remarkably well-preserved some fossils have been—one even possibly containing impressions of its heart.

Our Thescelosaurus skull kit highlights the compact, well-built head that helped it thrive in diverse environments right up until the end of the dinosaur era. With its large eyes, robust teeth, and powerful bite, Thescelosaurus neglectus was perfectly adapted for a life of constant foraging while avoiding the era’s apex predators.
